All British Classic Car Day in Boca Raton, Florida
« on: April 12, 2016, 01:30:40 PM »
We had a beautiful day for our 23rd Annual All British Classic Car Show. Thank you from the Gold Coast British Sports Car Club to all of our members and friends who came out to Royal Palm Place in Boca Raton, Florida on Sunday, February 28. 2016. We had 165 attendees.
Our Car Show was a great success. We had twenty-seven classes of British cars represented. We had many beautiful MGs, Triumphs, Austin Healeys, Minis, Jaguars, Lotuses, Land Rovers, Aston Martins, Rolls Royces and Bentleys, Daimlers, Morgans and a 1937 Alvis and even a Cobra replica! Scott the DJ Music Man provided great entertainment. Club Chairman Jim Archer, his wife Martha, Car Club Secretary Noel Weinstock and a helpful crew of volunteers manned our Regalia Table; they were very busy selling monogrammed Club items.
The day culminated in our Awards ceremony. Neil Safer, auctioneer, was our emcee and entertainer! Our awards this year were wall clocks engraved with our Car Club Logo and award designation. Car Show participants chose the winners by popular votes. Our classes and awards were based on the number of pre-registered registrants.
In the Historic Preservation class, Dan Lanier won 1st place with his 1933 MG J2. We had several MG Class winners. In the MGB Early 1964-1974.5 Class, Barry Nathanson with his 1970 MGB and Jim Proia with his 1966 MGB tied for second place. In the MGB Late 1975-1980 Class, Pat and Diane Grassick won 1st place with their 1978 MGB. In the MG Other Class, Tony Flamino won 1st place with his 1967 MGB GT. In the MG T Series Class, John Korman won 3rd place with his 1952 MG TD. And, in the MG TF Class, we had three Club winners. Steve and Lynn Bamdas won 1st place with their 1955 MG TF1500, Tim Moylan won 2nd place with his 1955 MG TF1500, and Ian Gail won 3rd place with his 1955 MG TF1500.
And a special Best of Show award was presented for the second year in a row to Colin Gilbert with his beautiful 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25. Congratulations to all of these winners and everyone else, too numerous to mention! For the complete list, please visit us on Facebook.
One more note of congratulations goes out to Rick Hartwell for winning the 50/50 raffle! And thank you to Royal Palm Place for your hospitality; Royal Palm Place is a great location with unique restaurants serving international cuisine and a variety of shopping including boutiques, art galleries and specialty shops. The parking lot where are car show is held is set amidst flowering gardens and fountains! A big thank you also goes out to all of our sponsors and vendors that supported our Club with their ads, goody bag items and raffle prizes. Under the direction of Car Show Chairman, Brian Jenkins, and Co-Chairman Ed Morat, we had a dedicated group of volunteers who worked tirelessly before, during and after the Car Show. Thanks, Brian, for your hard work and leadership that continues to make the Club’s Annual Car Show a success each year! And, of course thanks to all of our attendees that showed up with their spectacular British autos and supported our Club!
